This weekend the world commemorates 23rd anniversary of the Chernobyl accident. The life in the areas affected by the nuclear disaster is getting back to normal. The regions in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine that were most affected by the nuclear fallout on 26 April 1986 are now in need of jobs, education and social services that will enable a full return to a normalcy. UNDP is coordinating the international development work which spans from environmental projects to improving education to promotion of healthy life style. UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Maria Sharapova is helping to convey the message of healthy life style and hope to the young generation in the region.
